ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the book - fascinating but horrifying to learn about a country which has been torn by civil and religious wars for so long. Also spelt out very clearly how foreign aid/inverntion is viewed and the dangers.
As the notes say, it was sometimes hard to follow and integrate the asides but nevertheless a pretty clear picture emerged. Found the style a bit confusing - had to reread many sentences to find the verb or accept that there wasn't one!
This was a small meeting - Jackie, Diana, Marlene, Caroline, Freda, and Yvonne. Shirley has asked that her membership be defered for a year or so, as other commitments mean that she has been unable to attend a lot of our meetings.
ReplyDeleteWe wish you the best in the year ahead. Remember, you are always welcome to come back!
